Portraits
How it Works
The Commission Journey
Consultation: Lets discuss your vision, the desired size, and whether you’d like a "Head Only" , "Full Body" or The favourite toy as an example to be included in your portrait.
Reference Photos: Lets bring your vision to life. While I work from one main photograph usually, seeing several photos helps me understand your pet’s true appearance and colouring. Large, sharp, and clear photos preferably outdoors without a camera flash being used will lead to the most impressive results.
Design: I create a layout design for your approval. This ensures the composition and look is exactly what you envisioned.
The Painting Stage: Once the 50% non-refundable deposit is paid, the painting begins! Most portraits are completed within 4-6 weeks.
Final Approval: I will email you a photo of the completed painting. We can make minor adjustments at this stage to ensure it is perfect.
Delivery: After the final balance is settled, your painting is carefully bubble-wrapped and shipped .

Questions Anyone?
Can you add additional pets or people?- Yes I can even if I need to work from two or more photos. To add an additional pet requires a further 25% to your order and may depending on the composition require additional time.
Do I Own the copywrite to the painting I ordered ? I am always happy to discuss options for the copywrite of the painting however the copywrite remains with me as the artist.
Gift Giving or Rush Order- Need it in a hurry? Don't panic I will do all that I can to assist however it takes time not only for the creation of your painting allowances for the paint to dry before varnishing and shipping have to be taken into consideration. Just let me know and we will go from there. An alternative I offer are my Gift Vouchers.
I want a Larger Size Do You Do That? I certainly do! If you are after a larger size we can discuss this and the price in your initial enquiry.
Do you post or do I pick up?- Yes I post. For my Australian clients I include postage and packaging . International Postage is not included however I will quote before starting your order.
How do I care for my painting? Every painting is signed and comes with care instructions as well as tips regarding having your painting framed.
What is the process? I make it as simple and easy as I can. First you make a booking and I will get back to you with a form addressing your requirements and pricing . You pay a 50% non refundable deposit and I create the inital layout which I then email you a copy. If you are happy you are required to sign the approval before I begin your painting. Before I post the painting I email you to make sure that you are happy with the painting. If you are unsure at this stage I can also offer a zoom call so that you can see in real time your work of art.
What is a Certificate of Authenticity?
Great question. A certificate of Authenticity is sent along with your painting for your records . This certificate not only confirms the painting was hand painted by me it also a valuable record for insurance purposes and as supporting documentation for province reasons.
What is the difference between oil & acrylic & Pastel painting? The finished product has a slight difference but only slight. When I paint with oils it takes a longer drying time than acrylics which can dry in a few days. Pastel is dry medium so that when applied it is already dry. If you need any help choosing I am happy to assist.
Do I need to Frame the painting? I package my paintings so that they are ready to be admired however they do need to be framed. I am happy to consult on your behalf with a local framer this would be additional cost .
What Surface are the paintings painted on? All of my paintings are created on Archival surfaces. For Acrylic & Oil paintings I generally paint on canvas and for the pastel I use a paper that allows me to enhance the details to your painting.
